The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Durham County (RSVP) provides opportunities for persons age 55 and over to make a difference in their communities through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from one to over forty hours a week, serving nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. This federally funded program, sponsored locally by Durham Technical Community College, matches the personal interests and skills of volunteers with opportunities to serve their communities. Supplemental auto liability and accident insurance is offered while on duty. Volunteers receive pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers they are placed. RSVP volunteers choose how and where they want to serve—from a few hours to more than 40 hours a week. Volunteers provide hundreds of community services, such as: |
