Careers Certificate Programs are Available via Classroom or Online!
Are you interested in learning more about the Medical Coding or Medical
Office Procedures Field? Does your schedule
not allow you to meet regularly in a classroom environment, or perhaps
you just prefer to learn from the comfort of your own home, setting
your own learning pace. Durham Technical Community College is now offering
the Medical Coding program entirely
online or in a traditional classroom setting! In addition,
some of our Medical Office Procedure certificate program classes are
available online as well as in a traditional classroom.

NOTE: You must have access to a computer with Internet connectivity
and an active email address to take any of the online
courses. Students must receive approval to
register for any online course. Please fill out the permission
request form prior to registering for any online course and read
the information below about listing prerequisites.
Online
Course Prerequisite Information for the Medical Coding or Medical
Office Procedures Certificate Programs
- If the online course you want to take has course pre-requisites
or course co-requisites, when you fill out your required permission
request form please tell us which pre-requisite course or
courses you have taken at Durham Tech.
- If you've taken an online course's pre-requisite course or
courses at another location but are not interested in receiving
the Medical Coding or Medical Office Procedures
Program Certificate, please tell us you are not interested in
receiving a Program Certificate when you fill out the required
permission
request form, so we can quickly process your request.
- If you took an online course's pre-requisite course or courses
at a location other than Durham Tech, and you're interested
in receiving the Medical Coding or Medical Office Procedures
Program Certificate, please be aware
of the following policy:
The Division of Continuing Education will allow students to exempt
one class from the following Continuing Education Certificate
Programs: Medical Coding and Medical Office Procedures. In order for the student to be exempted from a
class in the online program, the student must meet the following
five requirements:
- Course must be of similar content and length
- Course must have been completed within the last three years
- Course must have been satisfactorily completed (Grade earned
reflects 80% or greater or received a “S,” if it
is a noncredit course)
- Student must submit written documentation in the form of
a transcript or course completion certificate to: Online Class

- Only one exemption per student is allowed per program of
enrollment
