These steps are designed for new students interested in taking college-level, credit-bearing courses at Durham Tech. Whether you've just graduated from high school, completed your GED, are transferring from another college, or are returning to college, follow these steps to become a Durham Tech student! If you are interested in noncredit, continuing education, corporate education, or Small Business Center courses, learn how to register for courses here. Adult education, GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), or adult high school course information, as well as a continuing education class schedule, can be found in the Corporate and Continuing Education section of the web site. |

| 1. | Choose your program. |

| Select the program that best fits your goals. Visit the programs of study section. If you are still undecided visit the online career center.

| 2. | Complete the paperwork. |
| Enrollment Application If you wish to enroll in college-level courses, you must complete an enrollment application. Applications are available in the admissions section. Need more information? Call 919-536-7202. Transcript Request Form If you plan to pursue admission to a degree, diploma, or certificate program, submit your official high school transcript or bring in an original high school diploma (to be copied), your GED scores, or proof of high school completion to Durham Tech’s Admissions office. If you desire an evaluation for transfer credit, submit an official college transcript to the Admissions office. For more information, call 919-536-7202. |

| 3. | Apply for financial aid, then follow up. |

| 4. | Set up your ConnectMail and WebAdvisor accounts. |
Once your enrollment application has been processed, you will receive an email or a letter with instructions about how to set up your ConnectMail student email system and WebAdvisor student information and registration system accounts. From this point forward, you will receive important updates and all official communication from the college in your new student email account. Visit connect.durhamtech.edu to receive instructions. | 5. | Prepare for and take the placement test. |
| Most students are required to take COMPASS test to determine course placement. Prepare for this test and you’ll save valuable time and money. Visit the Testing Center section to learn more about how to prepare. and to see the current test schedule.

| 6. | Attend a ConnectSession orientation. |
Once you have completed the steps above, you are ready to begin the advising and registration process. Attend a Connect student orientation session to review your program requirements, plan your first semester courses, and understand the advising and registration system. Visit the orientation web page to review the schedule, check to make sure you have completed the requirements to attend, and review the documents you’ll need to bring. | 7. | See an advisor. |
If you plan to register for courses next semester, your next step is to schedule a time to meet with an advisor. Visit the advising web page to learn more about advising options. For more information, call 919-536-7205. |

| 8. | Register for classes. |
| After meeting with an advisor, you’ll have permission to register on WebAdvisor, our online registration system, or on TECHLINE, our telephone registration system.

| 9. | Pay your tuition. |
Although you have until the payment deadline to pay your tuition and fees, it is best to settle your account as soon as possible after you have registered. Payment may be made online via WebAdvisor, on the telephone using TECHLine, or in person at the cashier’s window on the second floor of the Wynn Student Services Center. | 10. | Get your student ID card and parking tag. |
Visit the Campus Police and Public Safety office to obtain your ID card. If you plan to park on campus, bring your license plate number and the make and model of your vehicle to obtain your parking tag. For more information, call 919-536-7255. |

| 11. | Buy your books. |
| Get ready by buying your books and everything else you’ll need to be successful for your first day of class. Need more information? Call 919-596-8883. |

| 12. | Attend your classes. |
To get a good start, attend the first day of your classes to make sure you understand course requirements and have the correct textbooks and materials. To successfully finish your classes, attend regularly! |
