| Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) Basic Training – $111.35 (Exempt for qualified participants*) |

This course takes those with little or no medical experience and introduces them to emergency care. At the end of the course, students are competent in providing emergency care at the basic level to patients needing care. All classes require Saturdays. The schedule is provided on the first day of class. Requirements are 18 years of age or older and a high school diploma or equivalent. Registration is $65 unless exempt. A supply fee of $25, a CAPS fee of $4, and an insurance fee of $17.35 are required and are not exempt. Summer class includes nine Saturdays. Preregistration and textbooks required. | EMT Intermediate – $186.35 (Exempt for qualified participants*) |

This course follows the North Carolina curriculum and bridges the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Training to Emergency Medical Technician to Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate. Prerequisites are (1) 18 years of age or older, (2) EMT certification and preference of at least one year of experience at the EMT level, (3) reading comprehension and English skills at the postsecondary level and math comprehension on the secondary grade level determined by placement testing, (4) proof of Hepatitis B vaccination and recent TB skin test, and (5) proof of MMR. The Intermediate class has 180 hours of classroom nstruction, 48 hours of clinical instruction, and 78 hours of field internship. Registration is $65 unless exempt. A one-time supply fee of $100, a CAPS fee of $4, and a $17.35 insurance fee are not exempt. Class schedule includes seven Saturdays. Preregistration and textbooks required. | Intermediate to Paramedic Bridge – $312.35 (Exempt for qualified participants*) |

This course follows the Department of Transportation national curriculum and bridges the Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate to Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic. Prerequisites are (1) 18 years of age or older, (2) completion of an approved N.C. Intermediate program, (3) EMT certification and preference of at least one year of experience at the EMT level, (4) reading comprehension and English skills at the postsecondary level and math comprehension on the secondary grade level determined by placement testing, (5) proof of Hepatitis B vaccination and recent TB skin test, (6) proof of MMR, and (7) completion of an Anatomy and Physiology course prior to class ending. This course has 488 hours of classroom instruction, 152 hours of clinical instruction, and 252 hours of field internship. Registration is $65 per semester for three semesters unless exempt. A one-time supply fee of $100 and a $17.35 insurance fee are not exempt. Class schedule includes 15 Saturdays. Preregistration and textbooks required. 1000 hours. | Intermediate/Paramedic Refrisher – $64 (Exempt for qualified participants*) |

This refresher is for currently certified Intermediates and Paramedics and will cover the 48-hour refresher curriculum as prescribed by the National Registry of EMTs for the ALS level. This class will have a scope of practice sessions so it will also meet the requirements of NCOEMS as a refresher. If you are unable to attend all of the classes you will be provided with a transcript of the classes you attend. 48 hours. | EMT Continuing Education – $55 (Exempt for qualified participants*) |

This continuing education class will meet on the third Thursday of each month and will meet the requirements of Durham County EMS systems plan for continuing education as well as the NCOEMS.
