Senior Citizens

These hands-on classes are informative and enjoyable. Create cards, newsletters, and flyers; send e-mail and pictures to family and friends; search the internet for information on any topic; develop or enhance your computer skills to stay current in today’s job market. These classes are designed for Seniors, but the classes are open to anyone age 18 or older. N.C. residents 65 years and older are exempt from paying tuition charges: a $5 lab fee is charged for classes being held at Durham Tech locations. For information, call 919-536-7222, ext. 4010.

 

Beginning Computer for Seniors – $64

Learn the fundamentals of computer technology in this beginning level class! Learn how computers operate and learn basic Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. No textbook required. 42 hours.

File Management for Seniors – $64

Learn how to manage your computer files. Learn to create, save, edit, print, move, copy, delete and un-delete files. 24 hours.

Intermediate Computer for Senior Adults – $64

This course takes your computer skills to the next level. Review basic applications and then learn advanced strategies of Microsoft Word and Excel. Apply your knowledge to an independent project. It is strongly recommended that students have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. No textbook required. 48 hours. 48 hours.

Internet for Senior Adults – $59

Learn the basics of the Internet. Find out how to access the enormous amount of information available on the Internet. PC Fundamentals or equivalent experience required. 24 hours.

Microsoft Word for Senior Adults – $64

Learn basic word processing functions. Enter, insert, delete and replace text; set margins and tabs; save and print documents; create headers and footers; insert page breaks; use spell check, graphic features, and other automated tools. PC Fundamentals or equivalent experience recommended. 30 hours.

PC Fundamentals for Senior Adults – $64

This leisurely-paced introduction to the computer is for senior adults. Learn basic computer concepts and procedures. Receive lots of personal attention in a beginner’s class created especially for senior adults. 30 hours.
