Job Title: Manager, Media Services
Reports to: Assistant Dean, Instructional Technology
Duties and Responsibilities:

This position leads the Media Services team, which is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting audiovisual systems on the college’s campuses and for providing technical and creative media support for educational programs and college events. The Media Services Manager must possess an in-depth knowledge of sophisticated analog and digital audio/video systems and proficiency with both traditional and emerging technologies. Specific duties and responsibilities are:

  1. Plan and oversee all activities associated with media and audiovisual services.
  2. Develop and implement college-wide plan to equip classrooms and other campus spaces with appropriate audiovisual technology and to replace and upgrade existing equipment.
  3. Collaborate with college personnel, contractors, and equipment suppliers to design and implement audiovisual installations for new construction, renovations, and existing buildings.
  4. Coordinate Media Services staff to install analog and digital audiovisual systems, install low voltage controls/wiring, set up and program audiovisual components, calibrate and test systems, and perform ongoing maintenance and repair.
  5. Serve as technical consultant regarding capability and effective use of audiovisual equipment and multimedia systems. This includes researching emerging technologies, recommending purchase of media equipment and supplies, serving as an information and training resource to faculty and staff, and resolving problems as they arise.
  6. Coordinate audiovisual operations or services requested for college facilities use.
  7. Manage and oversee the proper functioning of specialized college media systems, including the campus cable system and video-conferencing system (NCVIP).
  8. Oversee media duplication and audio/video production services.
  9. Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of Media Services staff.
  10. Perform managerial duties including developing an annual budget and monitoring expenditures; generating and tracking orders in accordance with state and college guidelines; maintaining inventory, maintenance, and repair records; and other administrative tasks.
  11. Conduct job duties in an appropriate and professional manner at all times, demonstrating reliability and showing courtesy and respect in interactions with faculty, staff, and students, as well as external contractors, installers or suppliers.
  12. Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean, Instructional Technology, the Vice President and Chief Instructional and Student Services Officer, or the President in meeting the needs of the college.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Associate's degree in a technical specialty such as radio and television or educational media.
  2. Two years experience designing, planning, installing and supporting audiovisual systems.
  3. One year experience supervising technical staff.
  4. Technical expertise in design, setup, operation, and maintenance of current multimedia systems, including computer projection equipment, audiovisual presentation/recording equipment, and CD/DVD duplication equipment. Must be familiar with common multimedia cable termination specifications and have the ability to construct custom cables for installations and repairs.
  5. Understanding of computer-based video production techniques.
Normal Working Hours:

A forty (40) hour week established to allow the Manager, Media Services to adequately fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities.
