Online advising is available for returning admitted students, visiting students and students with prior college credit. Continuing students should submit their requests to their assigned faculty advisor. Visiting students and students with prior college credit should submit their requests to the Admissions and Enrollment Services Center. Details for each group of students appear below.
The deadline for online advising is 5 p.m., May 11 for Summer Term 2016 courses.
New students who have never attended college are not eligible for online advising and must attend a ConnectSession, Durham Tech’s student orientation prior to advising.
Continuing Durham Tech Program Students
As a continuing program student, all of the following criteria must be met in order for you to be eligible for online advising:
- Be admitted to a program as of last term or semester
- Have an assigned academic advisor
- Have enrolled in courses at least once during the previous three semesters
- Have completed at least 17 credits of college coursework
If you meet all of these criteria, please complete the Request for Online Advising for Returning Program Students form. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for online advising, you should schedule an appointment to see your faculty advisor in person. You can locate your advisor's contact information in WebAdvisor under My Profile. If your faculty advisor is not available during summer term, you may submit your form to the Admissions and Enrollment Services Center at email@example.com
Visiting Students and Students with Prior College Credit
Online advising is available for visiting students and students new to Durham Tech who have completed 12 or more credit hours of college-level coursework. New and visiting students with less than 12 hours of college-level credit are not eligible to request online advising and must attend a Connect Session, Durham Tech’s student orientation. If you meet the requirements for online advising, please complete the online advising request form.
All visiting students and students with prior college credit must submit an official copy of college transcripts and placement test scores (if applicable) to the Student Records and Information office for evaluation of transfer credits and verification of prerequisites. Do not attach a copy of your transcript to your request for online advising. Transcripts should be submitted by the priority enrollment due date. If you miss this due date and your transcripts are not processed at the time of submission, your request for online advising will not be approved.
Visiting students who wish to see an advisor in person can do so during walk-in hours at Main Campus or the Orange County Campus.
