Associate in Science Degree

chemistry labThe Associate in Science (AS) is a two-year degree with an emphasis on courses such as biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, mathematics, or physics. Both of these programs prepare students for different majors at four-year institutions. The AA degree is for liberal arts majors and the AS is for science majors.

2016 – 2017 AS Plan of Study

Old AS Plans: 2013, 2014, 2015

Course Descriptions

Students who have already selected the intended major for their college degree should consult the more specific Course Selection Guides.

The following plan of study is the standard curriculum for the program. Any deviation from the prescribed curriculum must have advance approval. All prerequisite course requirements must also be met. To graduate the student must successfully complete all the required courses and the required credit hours for electives and have at least a 2.0 overall grade point average. Prerequisite courses to a subsequent course must be passed with a C or better. A grade of D will not count for transfer. This plan of study is subject to change when the college thinks such action is in the best interest of the student or the program. It is the responsibility of the student to meet requirements for graduation. Students are advised to take ACA 122 in their first semester at Durham Tech to create a suitable plan of study.
