Professional Development Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To advise professional development coordinators on promoting and supporting all professional development initiatives under one umbrella as well as assist in evaluating professional development offerings on an annual basis and making recommendations for changes or additions. The committee also advises the President’s Council about appropriate college-wide professional development activities in support of the college’s mission and strategic goals. The President appoints the chair.

Representative from Research, Evaluation, Assessment, and Planning

Representative from Corporate and Continuing Education

Reports to: President

 

Teaching and Learning Center Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To provide counsel and assistance to the Director, Teaching and Learning Center about center activities and programs and promote those activities to the college community at large. To plan, carry out, and evaluate the orientation of new faculty members each year.

Membership:

Chair Appointed by the Chief Instructional Officer from the Membership
Nine Representatives from Full-Time and Continuing Part-Time Faculty and Administrative Staff

Membership and Committee Notes:

Members serve two-year terms with appointments staggered. The senior members of the Excellence in Teaching Committee serve a one-year appointment. The Director, Teaching and Learning Center convenes the committee. The Vice President, Student Learning, Development, and Support/Chief Instructional Officer selects representatives. The Chief Instructional Officer appoints the chair from among the membership. The chair serves a one-year term.

Reports to:

Vice President, Student Learning, Development and Support/Chief Instructional Officer through the Director, Teaching and Learning Center

 

Adjunct Instructor Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To serve as the planning and development team for programs that will enhance the professional development of adjunct faculty.

Membership:

Discipline Chair, Social Sciences/Humanities (Chair)
Minimum of Seven Adjunct Faculty Representatives from a Variety of Curriculum Programs
Minimum of Five Faculty Representatives from a Variety of Curriculum Programs and Adult Basic Education
Assistant Dean/Library
Minimum of Three Curriculum Chairs/Directors from a Variety of Curriculum Programs

Reports to:

Vice President, Student Learning, Development, and Support

 

Center for the Global Learner Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To lead and collaborate with all areas of the college community in fostering intercultural understanding and developing engaged global citizens.

Membership:

Executive Director, Center for the Global Learner (Chair)
Executive Dean, Student Learning and Assessment
Minimum of Three Discipline Chairs/Directors from a Variety of Programs
Counselor/Admissions Officer, International Students
Teaching and Learning Center Advisory Committee Representative
Developmental Education Faculty Representative
English as a Second Language Faculty Representative
Two Faculty At-Large Representatives

Reports to: Executive Director, Center for the Global Learner

 

Health and Safety Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To provide input, share concerns, advise, and make recommendations in matters and procedures related to providing a healthy and safe environment.

Membership:

Appointed Chair
One Student Development and Support Representative
One Institutional Advancement Representative
Three Student Learning Representatives, including two Faculty
One Continuing Education Representative
One Student Representative

Ex Officio:

Campus Police and Public Safety Director
One Representative from Facilities Services
Others as selected by the Senior Vice President, Institutional Advancement

Reports to: Senior Vice President, Institutional Advancement

 

Corporate and Continuing Education Advisory Committee
Purpose:

To advise in matters and procedures related to obtaining information from the community concerning continuing education offerings in regards to public offering courses, specific occupational training, human resources development programs, corporate training, and small business center offerings.

Membership:

Appointed Chair
One Corporate and Continuing Education Representative
One  Non-Corporate and Continuing Education Representative
Two Research Triangle Representatives
Two Manufacturing Sector Representatives
Two Service Agency Representatives
One City Government Representative
One Service Sector Representative
One Largest Employer for Durham County Representative
One Largest Employer for Orange County Representative

Reports to: Vice President, Corporate and Continuing Education

 

Curriculum Program Advisory Committees
Purpose:

To advise program directors about latest trends and requirements in the industry or business area of each credit program. 

Membership:

Department Head Representative from the Program
Program Director from the Program
Other Program Directors as Appropriate
One Faculty Represenative from the Program
One Maculty Representative from a Related Program
External Nembers from the Field of Study as suggested by the President, Division Heads, or their designees.

Reports to:

President, Division Heads, or other appropriate staff members via the department head
