Durham Technical Community College participated in a math competition April 11 – 13 in Gainesville, Georgia. Durham Tech placed second overall out of 29 teams, representing five states. The Durham Tech team consisted of Nik Blanchet, T. Clayton, Kyle Ho, and Andy Vargas. Andy finished fourth in the individual competition, earning himself a plaque and cash prize. In the team portion, Durham Tech finished third, receiving a bronze medal. The combination of Durham Tech's individual and team efforts achieved second place overall for Durham Tech. The trophy is proudly displayed in the trophy case outside of the Math/Science office located in the Collins Building.

Additionally, Durham Tech recently won the the Student Math League Competition for the state of North Carolina and the Southeast region. This is the second time Durham Tech has won the Southeast region in the last 3 years.
