(DURHAM, N.C.) – Christopher Hart, a Durham Technical Community College student, is among 58 outstanding students to be honored tonight (APRIL 14) by North Carolina’s Community Colleges. The event is part of Governor Beverly Purdue’s designation of North Carolina Community College Excellence in Education Week, April 11-17.
In addition to recognizing one top student at each of the 58 community colleges, one faculty member, one staff member, and a corporate partner will receive recognition from North Carolina’s Community Colleges. Also, the I.E. Ready Award, named for Isaac Epps Ready, the first director of the N.C. Department of Community Colleges, will be announced. It is the highest honor the State Board of Community Colleges bestows. The event will take place at the Jane S. McKimmon Center at 6 p.m. at 1101 Gorman Street in Raleigh.
Hart, a straight A student at Durham Tech, was the winner of the college’s Academic Excellence Award. The Web Technologies major served as co-manager of his class’s capstone project. He created a website, drafted a project plan, and organized team members. Hart held an internship with UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Computer Science and was president of Durham Tech’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda business society. Hart is a native of Newport News, Va.
