(DURHAM, N.C.) – Business owners facing tighter budgets are turning to social media outlets for branding and marketing purposes. But too often they fail by applying a “print media mindset." Durham Technical Community College’s Small Business Center offers a new course, Social Media Marketing for Entrepreneurs, on Thursdays, April 1-29 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the college’s Corporate Education and Small Business Center. The center is located on the third floor of the SOUTHBank Building at 400 West Main Street in Durham.
This hands-on, in-lab course teaches how to effectively incorporate social media tools such as blogging, Twitter, podcasting, sharing, and social networking sites into marketing efforts. The course is taught by Gary Miller, assistant director of University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill Career Services. An expert in personal branding and social media, Miller’s interest and participation in web-based collaborative media goes back to the mid-1990s and continues through the latest technological releases. In addition to his work in higher education, he has operated two successful event planning and promotion ventures. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree focused on marketing higher education. Contact him at gmiller.company@gmail.com or visit www.garyalanmiller.info The cost of the course is $89.
