(DURHAM, N.C.) – For some, retirement is no time to take it easy. Members of Durham’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) prepare tax forms, read to schoolchildren, deliver meals, and participate in many other volunteer services. Approximately 175 RSVP volunteers will be honored at the organization’s annual recognition luncheon on Thursday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Croasdaile Country Club.
Locally, RSVP was established in 1974 under the sponsorship of the Volunteer Services Bureau. In 1976 Durham Technical Community College became the local sponsor. The Corporation for National and Community Service is the federal sponsor. The RSVP office is located at 807 Bacon Street on Durham Tech’s Main Campus.
For more information, contact Linda Crawford, director of RSVP, at crawfordl@durhamtech.edu or 919-536-7247, ext. 5301.
