DURHAM, N.C. – Durham Technical Community College students returned from the National Leadership Conference of the Future Business Leaders of America and Phi Beta Lambda in Anaheim, California with a first place award and six other awards. Phi Beta Lambda is a non-profit education association for students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. The Durham Tech students were among more than a thousand students from throughout the nation who attended workplace skills training, leadership workshops, and other activities during the conference from June 20-23. Michele Parrish, Durham Tech instructor of Networking Information Systems Technologies and PBL advisor, also attended.
 
DTCC student Maria Ratliff won 1st place in Impromptu Speaking and 3rd place in Public Speaking; Christopher Hart won 5th place in Networking Concepts; Rajdeep Dhesi won 6th place in Networking Concepts; Minerva Lambert won 7th place in Client Service and 8th place in Job Interview; George Johnson won 9th place in Telecommunications. Other students attending the conference were Amiris Brown, Briant Davis, and Larry Novins.   

Earlier this year Durham Tech’s Phi Beta Lambda chapter won two 1st place statewide awards and 14 other awards at the State Leadership Conference in Charlotte.
