| NOTE: To register for the Anatomy and Physiology for Paramedics course; you must request permission from the instructor.
Send an email to houstons@durhamtech.edu with your name, the email address you will use for class correspondence, the EMT certification you currently hold, the EMT class you wish to attend, and a phone number that you can be reached at. A confirmation will be sent following receipt of your email. The instructor will review the requests and email notification about acceptance into the class. Included in the return email will be instructions for registration.
Due to the amount of material presented in the course it is highly recommended that the student have access to a high speed internet connection. |
| How much does the course cost? |
| Paramedic class registration is $65.00 per semester
(there are three semesters). $100.00 supply fee, a $4 CAPS fee, and a $17.35 insurance fee. Total cost to take the class is $312.30. EMT class registration is $65.00. $25.00 supply fee, a $4 CAPS fee, and a $17.35 insurance fee. Total cost to take the class is $111.35. Intermediate Class registration is $65.00. $100.00 supply fee$4 CAPS fee, and a $17.35 insurance fee. Total cost to take the class is $186.35. All fees must be paid when you register. AMLS Class registration is $55. There is an additional fee for National Association of EMT’s of $15. due in class. |
| When are registration fees due? |
| All fees are due at registration. |
| Which fees are exempt? |
| Only the tuition fee is exempt if qualified. Other fees, if applicable,
are one-time fees paid by all. |
| Who is exempt? |
| Public safety workers are exempt from the registration fee. Police, Firefighters,
Rescue, and EMS paid or volunteer. Proof of affiliation status must be submitted
with the registration form. All others must pay the registration fee. |

| Are there any other supplies that I will need and how much will they cost? |
You will need a Durham Tech uniform for clinical and field internship time for the Intermediate and Paramedic classes. The uniform is identified in class. The costs vary depending on quality and place of purchase. You will need to purchase a Durham Tech Student ID prior to beginning clinicals The cost is $3.00. Intermediate and Paramedic students will need to purchase an account with FISDAP ® to schedule and record your clinical times. Approximate cost is 80.00 for a lifetime account. | I will not be here for registration. Can someone else register for me? |
| Anyone may register for you; however, you must complete and sign a Continuing
Education registration form downloaded from Durham Tech’s web
site. Make sure that the person registering for you has the correct registration
fee. |

Do I have to take the placement test? |
Intermediate and Paramedic students must take the reading and math placement tests if they have not successfully completed college level English and Math course(s). You must submit a transcript that indicates you have placed into, or successfully completed, a college-level reading and English language writing course and successful completion of a MAT 060 course or placement into a MAT 070 course. |
| What is the placement test? |
| The placement test is a reading comprehension test and/or a math test.
You must score a 41 or better on the reading ASSET® test and score a
41 or better on the numerical portion of the ASSET® test. ASSET®
tests are taken through the testing center and a test
center schedule may be viewed via the web site. |
| Does the college course have to be in EMS or a related area? |
| No. However; the college transcript must indicate you have placed into,
or successfully completed a college-level reading and English language writing
course and placed into a MAT 070 course or successfully completed a MAT
060 course. |
| Does the transcript have to be official? |
| No. If you are getting a transcript from Durham Technical Community College,
please plan to get it 48 hours ahead of general registration days. |
| Is there financial aid for this course? |
| No. This course is a noncredit class so Pell grants and other forms of
aid do not apply. |
| If an agency is paying for my class and books, what do I need to bring to registration? |
| Bring two copies of the letter authorizing payment to register. One copy
is for registration and one copy is for the bookstore if the agency is paying
for your books. You do not need to bring any money to registration if you
are being sponsored by an agency. |

for the class. Submit this number and your money to the registration
staff and they will register you. You are not able to register without
the PIN, and you will not receive a PIN without completing the steps

| Do I have to have a background check? |
| All Paramedic and Intermediate students reaching the clinical stage are
required to have a background check. Durham Technical Community College has contracted with a vendor to provide this service at a reasonable fee. This is discussed at the first class meeting. |
