- Complete and return: The registration form and payment one week prior to the online class start date (email address is required):

Textbook Order steps: |
- Go to the current course schedule link above. Under the course description, where course dates and times are listed, record the 5 digit number in front of the word “ONLINE”; this is your course number.
- Two weeks before the class start date, get your course number, and do one of the following:
- Go to the Durham Tech Bookstore, and buy your required course materials: http://www.durhamtech.edu/html/prospective/bookstore.htm
- Go to the Durham Tech Bookstore’s website, and order your required course materials: http://www.efollett.com
- Our state: North Carolina

| Step 5: Recommended computer hardware and software set-up for online courses: |
- A home computer (PC or MAC) with high-speed Internet access
- An email account (free accounts available at www.gmail.com ) or if a Durham Tech credit student, please use your ConnectMail email account.
- A reasonably current web browser (Internet Explorer 6 or higher at www.microsoft.com OR Firefox 2 or higher at www.firefox.com )
- The current version of Java installed (how to get the current version of Java)
- JavaScript and cookies enabled (how to enable JavaScript and enable cookies)
- Perform a browser check on each browser that you will use (Internet Explorer and/or Mozilla Firefox) and download the latest software for Acrobat Reader and Shockwave Flash.

| Step 6. Logon steps (must be performed on or after the class start date): |
Durham Tech is transitioning from Blackboard to a new system called Sakai. As we phase in Sakai, some of your courses may use Sakai and others may use Blackboard. On the orientation schedule linked above, you can see if your online course will be taught on Blackboard or Sakai. Before beginning (or attending) your course-specific orientation, be sure to complete the Blackboard Tour or the Sakai Tour.
