- How do I register?
You will be asked to submit verification of eligibility to DTCC Attention:
Nursing Assistant Dept., 1637 Lawson Street Durham, NC 27703, or fax
information to 919-686-3479 Attn: Nursing Assistant Dept. The Nursing
Assistant Dept. will then mail you a form that assigns you a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) that states you are eligible to register
for Nursing Assistant classes. This PIN form must accompany the registration
form. Registration will take place at the NC Mutual building 6th floor,
Corporate Education building, or Orange County Skills Development building
between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm. Registration fees must be
paid in full at the time of registration.

Can I register early?
You may register at any time prior to the start of the course as long
as you have the PIN form, but remember that classes are on a first-come-first-served
basis.

Can someone else register for me?
Anyone may register for you; however, you must complete a Continuing
Education registration form. Make sure that the person registering
for you has your PIN form and the correct amount for the fee.

How do I become eligible for the
Nurse Aide II class?
You must have a current NC Nurse Aide I listing with no substantiated
negative finding; a letter of verification from a former employer
that you have 6 months of Nurse Aide I experience; and a high school
diploma or GED.
- What is the PIN form?
It is a Personal Identification Number form that verifies your eligibility
to register. The PIN form must accompany your registration form.

How much does the course cost?
$132.30– Fees must be paid when you register.

How much are the books?
The book is approximately (new) $47.50 and (used) $35.75.

Are there any other supplies that
I will need and how much will they cost?
You will need a white uniform or scrubs, white shoes, stethoscope,
gate belt, notebook, paper and pens. Costs will depend on the student
and where they get their supplies. These supplies are not needed on
the first day and will be reviewed during the orientation session
on the first day of class.

If an agency is paying for my class
and books what do I need to bring to registration?
Bring 2 copies of the letter of payment to registration. One copy
for registration and one copy for the bookstore if the agency is paying
for your books. You will not need to bring any money to registration
if you are being sponsored by an agency.
- Do I have to be 18 years old to take this course?
Yes. You must be 18 years of age and/or a high school graduate to register
for this Continuing Education class, or be 16 years old or older and
have a letter of consent for your high school administrator. Refer to
Continuing Education course

- Where else can I take this class?
Most Community Colleges offer this course. North Carolina Board of Nursing
may have a list of State Approved Training Locations on their web site
