- Who can register for the NA I Refresher program?
A student registering for the Refresher class must have been listed
on a Nurse Aide Registry with no findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriations
of funds.
- I was listed in another state. Can I still take the Refresher class
in NC?
Yes. You must supply us with proof of listing/certification in the state
where you are/were registered with no adverse findings.
- How do I register?
You will be asked to submit evidence of NA I listing to DTCC, Nursing
Assistant Dept., 1637 Lawson Street, Durham, NC 27703 or fax information
to 919-686-3479 Attn: Nursing Asst. Dept. Once we receive the evidence
we will send a PIN form that you will need for registering for the course.
- What is the PIN form?
A form that we send to you makes you eligible to register. You will
not be able to register without one.
- How much is the NA I Refresher?
$76.30.
- Is there a book for this class?
Yes. The book is The Nursing Assistant Handbook, published by
Hartman. The cost is approximately $25.00 and is available at the DTCC
bookstore or at The Book Exchange on 107 W. Chapel Hill Street,
Durham, NC 27701
- Where do I take the state exam?
As of July l, 2006 the North Carolina Department of Health and Human
Services, Division of Facilities Services (DFS) has contracted with
Promissor to conduct competency testing statewide. The cost for competency
testing is $92.00.
