New
or expanding businesses:
This customized program is specifically intended for new
companies moving into the college’s service area or for existing
companies that are expanding their operation. Certain companies
are eligible for the New and Expanding Industry Training Program
when they create 12 or more new jobs during a year. The level of
assistance is determined by the total number of new jobs created,
their skill and wage levels, and the total amount of capital investment.
Focused Industrial Training:
Tailored to meet an existing company’s specific needs, Focused
Industrial Training (FIT) is directed primarily toward workers in
production, maintenance, and manufacturing occupations who need
to upgrade their skills and expand their technical knowledge. Focused
training can be conducted for as few as one or two individuals.
This program offers highly specialized instruction that otherwise
might not be economically feasible. FIT uses individualized needs
assessments and consultations to design targeted, customized training
for organizations who need to upgrade workers' skills because of
technological or process advances.
