NEW! Alive @ 25 - Proactive Driving Analysis – $65

This young driver intervention program targets drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 — the group most likely to be involved in fatal collisions. Practice saving lives through education about proper conduct and safe driving techniques when operating a motor vehicle. This highly interactive program teaches young drivers how to take control of situations by taking responsibility for their own driving behavior. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 4 hours.

The Automobile: What Makes It TICK??? – $56.30

This course is designed for the automotive novice. With the price of gasoline, you cannot afford to miss this class. Students learn how to safely change a tire; jump-start a battery; check all fluid levels; change oil, light bulbs, belts, wiper blades, and hoses; and study the basic automotive systems. The instructor entertains all questions you ever wanted to ask and provides demonstrations where feasible. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 4 hours.

NEW! Biodiesel Workshop – FREE!

Biodiesel is a cleaner burning alternative fuel that is produced from fat or vegetable oil, including N.C.-grown field crops such as soybeans and corn. The use of biodiesel rather than petroleum diesel benefits the environment, energy security, and the economy with a standardized high quality renewable fuel. 

Find out how to run your tractor and other vehicles on biodiesel. This workshop is sponsored by N.C. BioNetwork – BioAg Center and Piedmont BioFuels. The day’s event includes a one-hour lecture, along with hands-on demonstrations provided through the Piedmont BioFuels traveling demonstration trailer. Space is limited for this free demonstration.

Defensive–Safe Driving – $65

Separate from the vehicle escort program, this course is for all new and experienced drivers. The course covers key driving issues, problems, citation, insurance, and employment requirements. On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II Automotive Emissions – $67

This mandatory course is for employees performing N.C. Safety and Emissions inspections. The course focuses on the computer and software that monitor the emissions control devices installed in vehicles dating from 1996 to the present. Individuals who have not been certified by the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles to perform Safety and Emissions inspections must take the class. Students receive a copy of the manual used in this course. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 8 hours.
