AHIMA Medical Coding Boot Camp – $124

Prepare for national certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CSS-P) and/or Certified Coding Apprentice (CCA), depending on previous background and experience. Learn to apply coding principles to correctly assign diagnosis codes, physician codes, and hospital procedural codes. 40 hours.

Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Office Professionals – $179, Online courses – $175

How does the human body function? This course provides a basic overview of the human body systems as well as an introduction to homeostasis, cells, tissues, circulation, the immune response, and electrolytes. Students gain an understanding of how different systems within the human body relate to one another. Upon completion, students are able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of anatomy and physiology. Textbook required. Required skills for the online course include the following: comfort with keyboarding, comfort with and access to word processing software, good file management skills, and familiarity with basic grammar. Basic Activity Professional Training for Health Care Facilities – $179

This course is designed to provide basic training to individuals desiring to become an activity professional in a health care-related setting. Activity directors for adult care homes are required by the N.C. Division of Facility Services to complete a minimum of 50 hours in an approved Activity Director course. Activity directors for nursing facilities are required to complete the 50-hour basic course with an additional minimum of 10 hours in documentation, including the assessment and care planning process. This approved course includes an overview of the activity profession, human development and the aging process, standards of practice, and methods of service delivery. Textbook required. 60 hours.

NEW! EKG Technician Certification Program – $1,099

EKG technicians are responsible for performing electrocardiogram tests in order to monitor and record electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. These tests include basic EKGs, Holter Monitoring (portable EKG which records activity for 24-48 hours), 12 lead placement and stress tests (treadmill). EKG technicians assist a physician in diagnosing and treating cardiac and blood vessel irregularities.

This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG technicians and to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician (ASPT) – Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam in addition to other national certification exams. This course includes important practice and background information about the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, the Holter monitor, electrocardiography, and echocardiography. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 50 hours.

Continuing the study of coding and classification systems, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS/CPT-4 are emphasized.
