NEW! Certificate Program in Music
Earn a certificate in music by successfully completing five or more classes. This flexible program allows you to decide what instrument to study for two semesters. In addition, all students must complete Musicianship I and the Music Industry Seminar. The fifth course focuses on MIDI Systems and Applications, In the Groove – Digital Music Production, or another approved elective.

NEW! Instrumental Classes for Beginners
Learn to play an instrument in a group setting. These introduction classes are designed for beginners and include fundamentals of reading music and chord notation. Basic theory is applied with some emphasis on ear training. Instrumental classes have no prerequisites and are limited to a four-student maximum. Guitar, bass, violin, and saxophone students must have access to an instrument for practicing and must bring their instrument to class. Piano and drums are provided for the classroom session. (Because these courses are self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 15 hours.

In the Groove: Digital Music Production I – $560

Learn to produce beats, loops, solo, multi-instrument, or vocal music for demo CDs or live performances ranging from concerts to worship services. Record and produce professional-quality music tracks at a fraction of the traditional studio cost. This course provides a practical, application-oriented, approach to learning digital music production, using Cakewalk Sonar 6 Windows-based software. By course completion, students are able to create, sequence, record, and edit MIDI and audio music. Each student is required to produce a small project to demonstrate the core competencies of the course. There are no prerequisites for this course; however, students should have basic computer literacy in a Windows environment and basic piano keyboard skills. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 36 hours.

NEW! In the Groove: Digital Music Production II – $560

Take your production skills to the next level!! Master professional-quality music tracks at a fraction of the traditional studio costs. This 12-week course builds on the outcomes of In the Groove: Digital Music Production I. It provides a comprehensive study into topics of automation, effects, mixing, and mastering digital music using Cakewalk Sonar 6 (Producer Edition) Windows-based software. Each student is required to produce a small project to demonstrate the core competencies of the course. In the Groove: Digital Music Production I is a prerequisite for this course unless waived by the DTCC Continuing Education program director or a Eubanks Center instructor. Students should have basic computer literacy in a Windows-environment and basic piano keyboard skills. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 36 hours.

NEW!  Play and Learn: Integrated Music Workshop – $55

Frustrated musician? Have fun learning to enhance and fine tune your understanding of music through a hands-on workshop. Whether it’s for a church brass or wind ensemble, jazz band, or just “jamming” with friends, these classes allow you to better appreciate and extend your music knowledge. Explore rhythm, meter, melody, tone, and harmony. Participate and play your instrument in a small group ensemble while strengthening your musical ability and interest. (Because this course is self-supporting, no tuition waivers or exemptions are allowed.) 20 hours.
