| Nurse Assistant I | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Position yourself to start a rewarding career in the health care industry. Students learn basic nursing skills required to care for patients in a variety of health care settings. Through classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clinical rotations, the student becomes prepared to take the N.C. Nurse Aide I Competency Evaluation, a requirement to be listed on the N.C. Nurse Aide Registry. In order to take the N.C. Nurse Aide I competency exam, candidates must have a valid social security number. The course textbook, evidence of negative TB test, uniform, and supplies are required. At the student’s expense, the student may also be required to undergo a criminal background check and drug screening as well as show proof of specific immunizations prior to beginning the clinical portion of training. Evening classes require clinical participation on two weekends. The clinical schedule is provided on the first day of class. The ESL class is intended for students whose English is not their first language. The Hybrid class (part in-lab and part online instruction) is for students who enjoy learning via computer.
