The success of today’s economy is determined by high-skill, high-wage employment. Employers recognize the need for employees to develop the high-performance skills necessary to succeed in a high-performance workplace. Those skills are categorized as “fundamental skills” and “workplace competencies.”

Fundamental skills include basic literacy and computational skills, critical thinking skills, and personal qualities that make workers dedicated and trustworthy.

Workplace competencies include how to manage resources, work productively with others, acquire and use information, master complex interrelationships, and work with a variety of technologies.

Durham Tech can work with Triangle employers to develop customized training programs focused on upgrading the skills of existing employees or training participants for potential employment. For more information, call the Director of Workplace Education at 919-686-3439.

Come join us and these other Workplace Education partners: City of Durham, Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA), and the University of North Carolina.
