Late Advising and Registration
If you were unable to see an advisor and register for courses prior to Dec. 3, 2007, Late Advising and Registration is your only option for enrolling in Spring Semester credit courses. Please be aware that due to use of a new student data system, lines may be extremely long.  Come prepared with all of your documentation (transcripts, placement test scores, notice of acceptance).  Each day of advising and registration is available for different groups of students, with priority given to admitted students.  See an advisor and register on the day intended for you.

Important: All registration activity including adding courses, dropping courses, or schedule adjustments must be made by Friday, January 11.  There will be no registration opportunities after this date for regular semester courses.

High School Student Dual Enrollment Registration
Thursday, Jan. 10, 9a.m.–2 p.m. and 4–6 p.m.
Qualified high school students 16 years old and older may register for dual enrollment courses on Jan. 10 only. Students must meet all of the requirements and prerequisites for the courses they plan to take. High school students graduating by December 2007 are not considered “dual enrolled” for Spring Semester courses. Call Mary Anne Grabarek at 919-686-3413 for more information.

Every student is required to see an advisor to discuss course selection and receive approval as your first step prior to registering for courses.  Locations of advisors are listed below.  New degree-seeking students or admitted students should visit the advising location appropriate to your program.  Non-degree-seeking students (special students) should visit the advising location most closely related to the courses they are interested in taking.

All students, regardless of admissions status, must satisfy course prerequisites.  Documentation is required.  To make sure you can register for the courses you need, bring copies of your placement test scores and college transcripts with you to advising.  Follow the steps below to be advised and register on these dates.

Steps for Late Advising & Registration

  1. Prepare your documentation.
Create a folder with copies of your placement test scores, your notice of acceptance (if applicable), and any previous college transcripts you might have that would indicate possible transfer credit.  Bring this folder with you to advising.

  2. Meet with an advisor in the appropriate advising location.
On Jan. 9–11 according to the appropriate day you should register, advisors will be available from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and from 4–6 p.m. to help you select courses for the Spring semester.  Locations for advising are available below.  Make sure to bring your folder of important documentation so that you will be able to register for the courses most appropriate for you.

Advising locations are separated by the degree, diploma, certificate, or courses you are interested in taking.  Please take time to review the Advising Locations listed below to make sure you begin in the correct location.
Business and Public Service Technologies Phail Wynn, Jr. Student Services Center, room 1303
Health Technologies Durham Tech/GlaxoWellcome Technology Center, room 941
Industrial & Engineering Technologies Newton Building, room 414
Information Systems Technologies Durham Tech/GlaxoWellcome Technology Center, room 983
University Transfer, General Education, Biotechnology, and Spanish Facilitator Educational Resources Center, Auditorium
Dual Enrollment Phillips Building, room 325 – Jan. 10 only
  1. Register for your courses.
Immediately after you have met with an advisor, you will register for your selected courses at one of three locations: the Phillips Building, room 309; the Durham Tech/GlaxoWellcome Technology Center, room 963; or the Phail Wynn, Jr. Student Services Center, room 1305.  Choose the location closest to your advising location for convenience.  Due to the high volume of student traffic, registration can take time.

  2. Pick Up Your Receipt.
After your courses have been entered, you will be directed to the appropriate location to get a copy of your receipt.  Check your receipt to see how much you owe for your tuition.

  3. Pay Your Tuition.
If you have a balance to pay, you will visit the payment locations as your next step.  You have many options for payment including cash, check, and charge. You must pay the full tuition bill by 6:00 p.m. on the same day that you register. If you do not pay by 6:00 p.m., your registration will be purged from the system at the end of the day.  Don’t let this happen to you. Be prepared to pay on the day that you register.

  4. Get your Student ID Card and Parking Permit.
Once you have paid your tuition, visit the Security Office, located in the Security Annex at the back West end of the White Building, to receive your new Student ID card.  You will need your license plate number, make, and model of your vehicle to received a parking permit.
