Late Advising and Registration
If you were unable to see an advisor and register before May 5, Late Advising and Registration is your last opportunity to meet with an advisor and register for Summer credit courses.  Please be aware that due to use of a new student data system, lines may be long.  Come prepared with all of your documentation (transcripts, placement test scores, notice of acceptance).  Each day of advising and registration is available for different groups of students, with priority given to admitted students.  See an advisor and register on the day intended for you.

Important: All registration activity including adding courses, dropping courses, or schedule adjustments must be made by Thursday, May 15.  There will be no registration opportunities after this date for regular semester courses.

Dual Enrollment Advising/Registration
                Thursday, May 15, 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.
Students must meet all of the requirements and prerequisites for the courses they plan to take. High school students graduating by June 2008 are not considered “dual enrolled” for Summer Term courses. Call Mary Anne Grabarek at 919-686-3413 for more information. Dual enrolled high school students must pay tuition for summer courses that are offered as self-support.

Every student is required to see an advisor to discuss course selection and receive approval as your first step prior to registering for courses.  New degree-seeking students or admitted students should visit the advising location appropriate to your program.  Non-degree-seeking students (special students) should visit the advising location most closely related to the courses they are interested in taking.

Important:  All students, regardless of admissions status, must satisfy course prerequisites.  Documentation is required.  To make sure you can register for the courses you need, bring copies of your placement test scores and college transcripts with you to advising.  Follow the steps below to be advised and register on these dates.

Steps for Late Advising and Registration

  1. Prepare your documentation.
Create a folder with copies of your placement test scores, your notice of acceptance (if applicable), and any previous college transcripts you might have that would indicate possible transfer credit.  Bring this folder with you to advising.

  2. Meet with an advisor in the appropriate advising location.
On May 14 or 15 (according to the appropriate day you should register), advisors will be available from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and from 4 – 6 p.m. to help you select courses for the Summer semester.  Locations for advising are available below.  Make sure to bring your folder of important documentation so that you will be able to register for the courses most appropriate for you.

  1. Register for your courses.
After meeting with your advisor, you’ll have everything you need to register for your courses using TECHLINE, Durham Tech’s telephone registration system.  Directions for TECHLINE can be found on your registration form.  Use your cell phone or any of the TECHLINE phones located in the student lounge areas across campus.

If you are new to the college and do not yet have a student record yet created in our system, you will be referred to the Registration Office after you meet with your advisor.  The Registration Office is located on the second floor, room 1203 of the Wynn Center.  Once your student record has been created, the Advising Center, located just across the hallway in room 1200, will generate and activate your PIN, allowing you to fully access TECHLINE.

  2. Pay Your Tuition.
Complete your payment for tuition using TECHLINE if you are using a credit card.  In addition, you may pay using cash, check, and charge at the cashier locations in the Wynn Center.  You should pay the full tuition bill by 6:00 p.m. on the same day that you register.  Be prepared to pay on the day that you register.

  3. Get your Student ID Card and Parking Permit.
Once you have paid your tuition, visit the Security Office, located between the White and Collins Buildings to receive your new Student ID card.  You will need your license plate number, make, and model of your vehicle to receive a parking permit.
