Data-driven decision-making is key to attaining the AtD project goals.
Achieving the Dream colleges will use data on student outcomes to diagnose
areas that need improvement, generate the institutional will for change,
and assess the impact of the changes on students. |
| Data Notes is a monthly publication
that examines data to illuminate the challenges facing Achieving the Dream
colleges and to chart their progress over time. This will also be available
on the Achieving the Dream web
site. |

| Why don't Fall AtD cohort students
re-enroll in Spring? |
Durham Tech's Evaluation and Research Services staff contacted non-returning
students to learn about their experiences. The study informed development
of AtD implementation plan.

Snapshot |
| As part of the Achieving the Dream initiative,
Durham Tech is tracking entering Fall Semester
groups (cohorts) of first-time curriculum students, who are registered
either full time or part time. These students are enrolled in a certificate,
diploma, or degree program (including developmental, wait list, and
preparatory students).
Each cohort will be followed semester by semester for six years to determine
key demographic, placement, persistence, and performance data. This
information is part of the culture of evidence described
by Data Facilitator Glenn Gabbard at the Fall 2004 Achieving the Dream
Kickoff.
