Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program Awards of up to $5,000 are made for U.S. Citizen undergraduate students to study abroad.
Award amounts vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000. Students studying a Critical Need Language are eligible for a $3,000 Critical Need Language supplement for at total possible award of $8,000. Students receiving federal Pell Grant funding at two-year or four-year undergraduate colleges or universities are eligible to apply. Hete the Natioal Collegiate Athletic Association provides information for students who would like to participate in college sports and learn about athletic scholarships. Web site: www.ncaa.org

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Inc. (CHCI)

CHCI’s educational services are designed to provide Latino students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in attaining a higher education. CHCI’s web site contains information about college preparation, scholarships, internships, fellowships, and a section for parents to assist them in successfully guiding their children from K-12 education to the university setting. The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans

CollegeView.com reaches millions of students, parents, and counselors in North America and around the world who are actively exploring higher education options and career opportunities. Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF)

MALDEF awards law school scholarships to Latino students in their first, second, or third year of law school and provides scholarships to students pursuing a graduate or professional degree in the field of communications. You can also find a list of scholarships available for students regardless of their immigration status. Web site: http://www.maldef.org/

College Board and the SAT

High school students who take the PSAT/NMSQT may qualify to enter competitions for the following scholarships and recognition programs: National Merit Scholarship Corporation, National Hispanic Scholar Recognition Program, National Scholarship Service and Fund for Negro Students, and Telluride Association. Students can register for the SAT exam or have scores sent to schools from this site. There is also good information on planning and paying for college. Web site: http://www.collegeboard.com

Federal Student Aid Information Center

This center is contracted by the U.S. Department of Education. A telephone representative can assist you with general information on eligibility for federal scholarships, grants, and loans. Scholarships for Hispanics

The purpose of Scholarships for Hispanics is to provide online access of over 1000 scholarships included in the Hispanic Scholarship Directory, sponsored by the National Education Association. Gates Millennium Scholars Program

These scholarships, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, are for outstanding Pell Grant-eligible students who are Afircan American, American Indians, Hispanic Americans, Alaskan Native, or Asian Pacific Islanders. Web site: www.gmsp.org

FinAid! The SmartStudent Guide to Financial Aid

This site brings together a good deal of information about financial aid and how to apply for it, including calculators to estimate expected family contribution. Web site: www.finaid.org

National Association for Campus Activities Educational Foundation
