| The Math Special Courses area of the Campus Learning Center is a self-paced, independent learning area for students enrolled in designated mathematics courses. Students who enroll in these courses earn the same credit hours and pay the same tuition as students who enroll in the regular classroom sections of these courses. Students who enroll in a Special Courses section of mathematics buy their own course texts and use self-instructional materials in the CLC, supplemented by assistance from CLC instructors, to learn the material included in the course syllabus. Students are required to "attend" class for the designated number of contact hours for each course, but they have the flexibility to choose their hours each week. Students sign in and out on time cards, recording their hours of attendance. Students' grades are computed based on numerous required exams throughout the term, culminating in a cumulative final exam. The good news: Special Courses are multi-entry, multi-exit; that means students attend class only until they complete all exams (but students MUST finish by the last day of classes each semester). Successful Special Courses students are self-motivated, can learn independently,
and have good task management skills. If you meet these criteria, consider
taking a math Special Course.
