| Videotaped, college-level courses televised for adult learners are offered Fall and Spring semesters. These courses contain the same content found in comparable on-campus courses. Students may register for these courses at the same time they register for other courses, but they must be sure to attend the scheduled orientations for these courses. Students enrolled in telecourses not only view the televised lessons but also come to campus for several required orientations, workshops, and tests. These visits are supplemented by textbooks and study guides, written assignments, student-teacher communications, and access to support services, including the Campus Learning Center. Lessons for some telecourses are televised by the UNC Center for Public Television on the local PBS channels; others are offered as college-by-cassette courses (a set of tapes is given to each student for the duration of the course). Tapes are also on reserve in the library on main campus and can be checked out; additional tapes are available for viewing in the Campus Learning Center. Students enrolled in telecourses may come to the CLC to take their exams, as noted on their course syllabi, during the posted hours for the Special Courses area.
