Visiting students may register during Early Registration if they make an appointment at the Advising Center (telephone). Otherwise, visiting students must wait to sign up for classes at General Registration.

Visiting (non curriculum) students must meet prerequisites to enroll in University Transfer classes. Students can meet prerequisites in the following ways:

1. Bring an official transcript from another community college or university to general registration.
   
   
2. Take the ASSET or COMPASS test at Durham Tech prior to registration. The test schedule and sample questions are online via Practice Sites for ASSET.
   
   
3. Students must have taken a Biology or Chemistry (could be high school) class within the last 5 years to have those classes count for prerequisite credit.
   
   
4. Bring an official copy of SAT scores to Advising. (Minimum SAT scores of 500 on verbal and 500 on math are needed for placement into college level classes. In addition, Math ASSET scores are usually required to determine the correct college math class.)
   
   
5. Students may also bring official scores from AP exams for consideration for class credit.

Students from other institutions of higher learning should double check with their own school about transferring classes from Durham Tech back to their school.
