For the 2001–2003 academic years,
- 100 Durham Tech students transferred to N.C. Central University.
- 48 Durham Tech students transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill.
- 58 Durham Tech students transferred to N.C. State University
- 22 Durham Tech students transferred to UNC-Greensboro.
In 2000-2002, Durham Tech students who transferred to UNC institutions
met and exceeded the University Transfer Performance Standard measure
established by the state legislature. This Performance Standard states
"performance of community college transfer students will be equivalent
to the performance of native UNC sophomores and juniors." The current
standard is 85.9 percent of community college transfer students will
have a GPA greater than 2.0 after two semesters at a UNC institution.
Only 27 community colleges met the standard.
Durham Tech’s University Transfer program students succeeded
at rates of:
- 88.9% for 2000-01
- 92.7% for 2001-02.
The rate of 92.7 percent was the 4th highest in the state. Even more
remarkable is that the top 3 schools only averaged approximately 20
transfers each. DTCC was measured on 124 transfers for 2001-02.
In general, students who graduate from Durham Tech with an Associate's
Degree and who transfer as juniors to public four-year universities
in North Carolina outperform students who began as freshmen at those
universities.
