| Are specific scholarships or grants available to help me pay for this program? |
Yes. The Teacher Assistant Scholarship Loan, or TSL, is available to all teacher assistants who have been working for at least one year as a full-time teacher assistant in a public/charter school in North Carolina. This scholarship provides $1,200 per year for up to four years. For complete guidelines and application information, go to http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/scholarships/taschol.htm on the Web. In addition, assistance is available through Durham Tech's Financial Aid Office.

| Should I decide to become a teacher later in my career, will any of the course work in this program transfer to a four-year college? |
Yes, come classes will transfer to four-year institutions. If you are considering this, please discuss your plans with your advisor at Durham Technical Community College.

| Can I work on this degree while also working full time as a teacher assistant? |
Yes. Classes are offered in the evenings and late afternoons to accommodate working individuals.

| What about the Co-Op Work Experience I and II courses? Can I receive credit for these two courses while I am working as a teacher assistant? |
Yes. It is possible to receive credit for Coop 1 and Coop II while working as a teacher assistant.

Yes. With the permission of your school's administration and your supervising teacher, a Durham Technical Community College faculty member will make regular visits and observations for these courses at your work setting.
