Curriculum (Credit) Nursing Assistant Programs
The Nursing Assistant diploma and certificate curriculum prepares individuals to work under the supervision of licensed health care professionals in performing nursing care and services for persons of all ages.
Course work emphasizes growth and development throughout the life span, personal care, vital signs, communication, nutrition, medical asepsis, therapeutic activities, accident and fire safety, household environment and equipment management; family resources and services; and employment skills.
Graduates of this curriculum may be eligible to be listed on the registry as a Nursing Assistant I and Nursing Assistant II. They may be employed in home health agencies, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, extended care facilities, and doctors’ offices.
Students in the Nursing Assistant diploma program are eligible for financial aid. The diploma includes not only the nursing assistant courses, but also general education courses. Those general education courses provide a foundation for further success in other allied health programs and in more advanced nursing programs.
If you plan to pursue a career in a healthcare field, the Certificate in Nursing Assistant is a prerequisite for entry into numerous healthcare majors such as Nursing, Physician’s Assistant, Radiography and Sonography. This course leads to college credits.
