Durham Technical Community College now has a new 19.6-acre campus centrally located in Orange County! The campus will better serve Orange County residents as they pursue their education, workforce training, and lifelong learning. The first building is a 40,000-square-foot brick structure is located in the Waterstone Development outside of Hillsborough. The building houses 22 instructional spaces, including classrooms, computer and science labs, a library, flexible use space, instructional and student support services areas, and faculty and student lounges.
The new facility also has many “green” building features. These include use of aluminum light shelves, photovoltaic systems for solar-assisted water heating, rainwater collection and reuse, waterless urinals, and operable window vents in all classroom areas — all of which contribute to energy efficiency.
 Continuing Education courses offered during the Spring Semester 2010 at the Orange County Campus include Building Inspections and Licensure, Career and Occupational Training, Communication, Emergency Medical Technology, Medical Coding and Medical Office Procedures, Notary, Restaurant Management, as well as courses in heath, wellness, and fitness, computers, foreign languages, personal enrichment, photography, and real estate. Durham Tech will continue to offer courses in the Orange County Skills Development Center located in downtown Chapel Hill.
Curriculum course program offerings scheduled for Spring Semester 2010 include Anatomy and Physiology, Expository Writing, Literature-Based Research, World Regional Geography, and Intermediate Spanish.
