
Project DEgree is an innovative educational model available exclusively for students who place into ENG 080 and RED 080 at Durham Technical Community College. Project DEgree features an engaging curriculum within a learning community and the support of a resource specialist who serves as your advisor and mentor. If you participate in Project DEgree,you will receive the academic and social support necessary to complete the college credential of your choice.
Year One
In Project DEgree, you join a learning community of 20 to 25 students. In addition to taking developmental courses in reading and writing, you complete a college survival and study skills course and receive individual instruction and tutoring in math if needed. A resource specialist works with your learning community and directly with you during your first year at the college.You will move ahead in your studies with your learning community — taking the next sequence of reading, writing, and math classes and a success course. Your resource specialist, who gets to know you as a student and as a learner, teaches your college survival and study skills courses. You’ll finish your first year by taking a class during summer term.
Year Two
This year, you fully transition into college-level courses, working toward the certificate or degree of your choice. Taking a full-time course load will be important to making good progress in earning your degree. A completion advisor will work with you and other advising staff to connect you to the college resources and support you need to succeed.
