MED-3300A Medical Administrative Assistant

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant This course provides training for the skills required to work as a medical administrative assistant. Course topics include electronic medical records, health insurance, basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, effective telephone etiquette, appointment scheduling, internal and external customer service, financial records of patients, and preparation of medical reports. Students also gain experience in understanding medical laws and ethics, using effective oral and written communications, handling front-office operations, and assisting physicians and medical staff. After successful completion of the course, graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certification exam for medical administrative assistants (CMAA). Students must have working knowledge of computer skills. Textbook required. 96 hours. $185 (Qualifies for Financial Assistance)
