This is a professional development session for Durham Tech faculty presented by Stephanie Dawson, Instructor, Associate Degree Nursing.

Are some learners inherently brighter than others? Do some students have a greater aptitude than others? How can I harness the learner’s potential to help the learner achieve greater success? To answer these questions and others, this session will seek to provide foundational and contextual information regarding growth and fixed mindsets related to clinical and didactic education from a nursing instructor's viewpoint.

After establishing a foundational understanding, participants will dive into their own mindsets, coming to understand the areas where they exhibit both growth and fixed mindsets. Educators will then take this enhanced perspective and examine their current teaching methods to discover where practices that promote a fixed mindset can be minimized and practices that promote a growth mindset can be enhanced. This session is lively, interactive, and filled with practical tips that can quickly and easily be implemented in one’s teaching style.
