The Associate in Arts (AA)
The Associate in Arts (AA) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate arts degree at a four-year college or university. Students in this program develop foundational knowledge particularly business, English, fine arts, foreign languages, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology.
Course Selection Guide
This course selection guide shown below has been developed by referencing the Baccalaureate Degree plans or the student plans for the Bachelor of Arts degrees at the universities listed below. Note that many other colleges and universities also offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business.
- Appalachian State University (ASU) – BS in Business Administration in Hospitality and Tourism Management
- NC Central University (NCCU) – BS in Hospitality and Tourism Administration
- NC State University (NCSU) – BS in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management
- UNC-Greensboro (UNC-G) – BS in Hospitality and Tourism Management
Students should print out and save the baccalaureate degree plan (BDP) for their major and intended transfer university.

Durham Tech has partnered with these universities to develop guaranteed admissions pathways for a seamless transition into their baccalaureate programs for eligible students who complete a Durham Tech university transfer degree (AA, AS, AFA, and AE). Culinary Arts Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree
The Culinary Arts curriculum provides specific training required to prepare students to assume positions as trained culinary professionals in a variety of foodservice settings including full service restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, catering operations, contract foodservice and health care facilities.

This curriculum prepares individuals to understand and apply the administrative and practical skills needed for supervisory and managerial positions in hotels, motels, resorts, inns, restaurants, institutions, and clubs.

College and University Partnerships
Durham Tech has a partnership with NC Central University (NCCU) that allows a student who completes the Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management Associate of Applies Science (AAS) degrees to transfer to NCCU to complete a BS in Hospitality and Tourism Administration.
