The library has rescheduled a few of our Citation Workshops due to the winter weather. All workshops will be held in the library's computer lab room 520. No pre-registration required. It's been twenty years since September 11, 2001. The Northern Durham Center Library currently has a 9/11 Remembrance display. As with all our displays, all books are available for checkout. Keep reading for more information about these items. Some of these books are on loan from the Main Campus Library, but will be available for pickup at the Northern Durham Center Library until Oct. 4. If you have walked by the Main Campus Library recently you may have seen our new display in our front window. Courtesy of Cambiando Caminos the display is for Diá de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Observed from October 31st to November 2nd, this holiday is often affiliated with Halloween in the United States. You may have heard of Dewey the cat from the book Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron. This book chronicles Dewey's story of living in a public library in Spencer, Iowa. Other libraries around the world also have cats. The library podcast is back! Our first episode of season 2 is an interview with LaDelta Williams, Director of the Center for Academic Excellence. In honor of libraries everywhere, we wanted to share a sweet and amazing story about the donkey libraries, Biblioburros, in Columbia. "By adapting the packsaddles of his two donkeys, Alfa and Beto, from carrying water to carrying books, Luis created a makeshift mobile library and set off to take his books to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to reading materials.
