Durham Tech marketing department wins national public relations award

The Durham Tech Marketing and Communications Department took the top prize for Quick-Turn Video in the 2021 National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Paragon Awards. The competition honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges in North America.

Durham Tech won first place in Quick-Turn Video, which featured the 2021 Parade of Graduates. Quick-turn videos are short videos that are produced immediately after an event or activity and must be produced in-house by the College's social media or content team.

Judges noted the planning, thoughtfulness, and sound integration that created a great video experience even with the immediate deadline. The submission featured video development work by Marcy Gardner, Content and Social Media Coordinator at Durham Tech.

Following Durham Tech in the Quick-Turn Video category was Anne Arundel Community College (Maryland) in second and Richland Community College (Minnesota) in third.

This year, the Paragon Awards received more than 1,700 submissions from 252 community colleges nationwide.

This is the College’s second Paragon Award. In 2020, the department won first-place in the country for our work on the Forge Great Futures fundraising campaign. The department has won more than 10 national and regional awards since 2017.
