Six Durham Tech students selected as Goodnight Scholars

Six students from Durham Technical Community College have earned the prestigious Goodnight Transfer Scholarship to attend North Carolina State University this fall.

The highly competitive scholarship provides recipients with a full scholarship to N.C. State, along with opportunities for leadership development, networking, internships, travel, and enrichment experiences. The Goodnight Scholars Program supports North Carolina students pursuing STEM and STEM-education fields and is funded by N.C. State alumni Jim and Ann Goodnight.  

Durham Tech’s 2026 Goodnight Transfer Scholars are:

  • Elisabeth “Izzy” Alexander, who will study Environmental Technology and Management
  • America Barrera, who plans to major in Mathematics Education  
  • Rawan Elgohary, who will pursue Computer Science  
  • Sierra Fabiani, seeking a degree in Genetics  
  • Blake Harmon, pursuing Electrical Engineering  
  • Josh McMenemy, who will major in Physics  

The scholarship selection process includes written applications, essays, and finalist interviews. In addition to financial support, scholars receive mentoring, academic advising, leadership programming, and access to a statewide network of student leaders and professionals.  

Durham Tech has consistently produced Goodnight Scholars in recent years, reflecting the College’s strong transfer and STEM preparation programs.
