News: Durham Tech and Wake Tech partner to launch RTP Bio, a biotechnology training and talent collaboration
Durham Technical Community College and Wake Technical Community College announced the launch of RTP Bio, a new workforce development collaboration that unites biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and biopharmaceutical talent pipelines of the two community colleges in the Research Triangle Park region.

Durham Tech and Wake Tech serve the fifth largest biotechnology hub in the United States, with Research Triangle Park located in both college’s service regions. The location and expansion of life science and biopharma industries have significantly accelerated employment demands. In 2020, more than 11,000 biotechnology jobs were created in the Research Triangle.

Current offerings at Wake Tech include degrees in Biopharmaceutical Technology and Biotechnology and continuing education through the BioWork credential. Durham Tech offers degrees in Clinical Trials Research, Biomedical Equipment Technology and continuing education through the BioWork credential. Durham Tech also plans to add new degrees in biotechnology-related programs in the coming year.
Opticianry Course Participation
Depending on a student's specific situation, there will be some classes where they will be required to attend either weekly or monthly in-class sessions on campus. The following information briefly describes what the Opticianry Degree Program entails.

Policies and Procedures Manual: Durham Tech is committed to ensuring that all research involving human participants follows the ethical principles and requirements set forth in the federal Protection of Human Subjects policy (45 CFR 46), the Belmont Report, and the Nuremberg Code.

News: Duke +Programs welcome Durham Tech students
Duke’s +Programs are signature, immersive, experiential learning opportunities that engage students in projects across a wide variety of disciplines. This summer Duke offered nine different +Programs in math, history, documentary studies, data, computer science, coding, climate, arts, and applied ethics. For the first time in +Programs history, Duke partnered with Durham Technical Community College to bring students from both schools together.
