We're calling all makers, artists, crafters, and those looking to try something new or have fun, to join us for Crafternoon! The Library and Student Government Association are looking forward to hosting our craft workshop series again this spring semester for students, faculty, and staff. Workshops are held in the Library’s Group Study Area room 105A on the lower level of Main Campus Library as well as other campus locations noted below. We are starting off the New Year with a few technical difficulties. The most important of these is that the computers in the library computer lab have crashed, and so right now our computer lab is closed. Our upstairs public computers are available for use; you can print b/w copies for 5 cents a page or we can help you save your work to print later. Free printing (10 pages a day) for Durham Tech students is available at the Wynn Center computer lab. Our IT department is working hard to resolve

Are you participating in the library's Read Great Things Challenge 2019? Do you need suggestions for books about immigration? Here in the library we spend a lot of time on our computers, as do our students. It's easy to start to slump and forget that spending so much time sitting still is hard on our bodies. The library discovered a neat new tool called the North Carolina Literary Map, which is a free resource produced by the University Libraries at UNC Greensboro in collaboration with the North Carolina Center for the Book. The NC Literary Map identifies North Carolina places associated with more than 3000 writers and more than 4700 of their books with an interactive online tool that is designed to foster interest in the state’s rich literary tradition. There is still time to check out one (or two or three or four!) of these new books to read over Thanksgiving Break. Books are a great conversation started at dinner and a great way to get some peace amidst the hectic Thanksgiving hubbub. We have SO MANY great new books that I can't include all of them. Some of the books not pictured are written by or about such notable people as Jackie Chan, Stan Lee, Harvey Milk, Malcolm Gladwell, Lois Lowry, Dapper Dan, and Edward Snowden. So come grab a book!
The world lost Dr. Phail Wynn Jr. in 2018 but his legacy in the Durham Tech Library is expanding regularly thanks to a generous donation from GlaxoSmithKline to establish the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment.
