A Show of her Own: Former Durham Tech student’s first art exhibit opens at Duke’s Bryan Center
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and having grown up in Henderson, former Durham Tech student Amanda Blanchard knew art was what she wanted to do from age 6.
Now she is sharing her talents in her first solo show.
"In January of this year, the student running the Brown Gallery [in the Bryan Center] at Duke University contacted me about doing a solo exhibit during October,” she said. “It would be my first show ever. I haven’t even had a group showing and now it’s just me in a monthlong exhibit.”

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program announced April 17 that Dr. Angela Davis, Vice President and Chief Talent and Equity Officer at Durham Technical Community College, is one of 40 leaders selected for the 2024-25 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship.

Durham Tech President J.B. Buxton thanked Durham voters for their support Tuesday night following the overwhelming support and passage of the 2022 Durham County bond referendum for Durham Tech. Sexuality Pride Educate Connect Trust Respect Unity Multiplicity (SPECTRUM) is a student club at Durham Tech whose mission is to advocate for and support the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.

Rodriguez, 28, was accepted into the Women and Minority Engineering Research Program at North Carolina State University.
The 10-week summer program requires students to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, and provides a high quality research experience along with mentoring support. The program begins May 24 and includes a $5,000 stipend.

The North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation has awarded $50,000 to the Durham Technical Community College Foundation to create the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment. Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. served as president of Durham Tech for 27 years. Upon his retirement in 2007, he established The Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Collection at the Durham Tech library on the Main Campus.
