Canvas Café: A Place to Talk Shop

Submitted by Maureen Walters on

Ever hit a snag while working on your course in Canvas and thought, "there's got to be an easier way to do this"? Or wondered how other instructors handle something in their online courses that you're still figuring out? That's exactly what Canvas Café is for.

It's a new monthly, in-person get-together where instructors can talk shop about online teaching, swap ideas, ask questions, troubleshoot Canvas issues, whatever. There's no agenda and no pressure to show up with anything figured out. Bring a question, bring a problem you're stuck on, or just come see what everyone else is talking about.

Topics may range across Canvas tools and features, course organization, assignments and grading, keeping in touch with students, general online teaching strategy, or, really, whatever's on people's minds that month. If you've been wondering about something, chances are you're not the only one.

Bring whatever's useful to you:

  • A Canvas problem you can't quite crack
  • Something new you want to try in your course
  • A course design question
  • A Canvas feature you keep meaning to learn
  • Curiosity about how other instructors do things
  • A win worth sharing
  • Or just yourself and your coffee

This isn't a workshop or a presentation: it's a conversation. Come with questions and leave with ideas.
