The Early Childhood Program and the Office of Equity and Inclusion invite you to a guided viewing of “A Class Divided.”

This semester, early childhood students are exploring how race, racism, and implicit bias impacts their work with children and families. In addition to activities in our course work, we are hosting several larger events and invite the Durham Tech community to join us. The first event is a facilitated viewing of this groundbreaking movie with guided conversations and reflections.

About “A Class Divided”

“The day after Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed, Jane Elliott, a teacher in a small, all-white Iowa town, divided her third-grade class into blue-eyed and brown-eyed groups and gave them a daring lesson in discrimination. This is the story of that lesson, its lasting impact on the children, and its enduring power 30 years later.”
