Obesity induces a chronic inflammatory state that contributes to the progression of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and impairs immune responses to infections like influenza and COVID-19. In this seminar, we will explore the obesity epidemic, the mechanisms linking obesity to disease, and potential strategies to mitigate obesity-associated inflammation when weight loss alone is insufficient.
