STEM Transfer Success Workshop

Join us for a panel discussion with former Durham Tech student Parsa Zareiesfandabadi, who transferred from Durham Tech to NC State to earn a degree in physics. He’ll be joined by four Durham Tech faculty members: Dr. Catherine Ward (biology and engineering), Dr. Margaret Memory (math), Dr. Theresa McCoy (anatomy and physiology and medical school), and Ian Redmon (biology). We’ll consider questions such as how does one start “thinking” as a scientist/mathematician/engineer/health professional, what’s the difference between studying harder and studying smarter, what are strategies for overcoming challenges in particular fields of study, and what are ways of feeling comfortable when pursuing a major as a person of color or a woman in predominantly white/male fields?
