Durham Tech will offer in-person assistance for enrolling, advising, and college and community resources through a new on-campus Student Resources Center.
The center, which will open Tuesday, Aug. 11, will guide students through college processes by providing holistic advising and connecting students to important resources. The center is on the first floor of the Phail Wynn Jr. Student Services Building (Building 10).
The Student Resources Center will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the immediate future. The center will be open on those days from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Hours and dates may change as the semester continues.
"Durham Tech is committed to providing accessible services and resources to our students,” said President J.B. Buxton. “We believe it is important to offer opportunities to our students for in-person assistance. Durham Tech is a place where all can succeed.”
Significant safety precautions are in place for the center, Buxton said.
The center will have one-way entrances and exits, plexiglass partitions, socially distanced rooms and stations, and sanitation between shifts. All students and employees staffing the center are required to wear a mask at all times. Masks are a campus-wide requirement.
Durham Tech representatives will be available to help with admissions processes, advising services, financial aid, and registration.
The center will also provide additional information about other resources, including the College Bookstore, Campus Harvest Food Pantry, Counseling Services, the Durham Tech Library, Student Parent Success Network, and technology access.
Students who drive to campus to visit the Student Resources Center can park in Parking Lot A, near the White Building (Building 1). The College also offers ADA parking spaces in the roundabout at the Wynn Center for vehicles with a visible DMV hangtag.
